About Us

Who are we?

The Vegan Market in Gothenburg is organised by Katrin & Pascal Kuta.

We are a happily married couple of vegans. Why did we decide to go plant-based? We have different reasons. But the main answer is “Because we can”.

We both traveled around a lot and lived in different countries. Katrin lived in bigger cities where craft and food markets were business as usual. During Pascal’s time in Asia, he developed a taste for food markets which are integral to the culture. Clearly lacking that experience in Sweden, it got us thinking, why don’t we organise something like that here? And we did.

While we come from different backgrounds, we have met in our beautiful Gothenburg and fell in love not only with each other, but also with this city. We are part of the community here and we want to create something that truly captures the spirit of this city.

Our Vision

We are both vegan for different amounts of time, but we both have seen similar issues with it.

There is an image problem with veganism.

While the idea of veganism is generally hard to find flaws in, people seem to be less than inspired to become more involved with it. That raises a couple of questions, but in the end it breaks down to our vision.

Vegan is fun. No judgment.

By creating an inclusive, non judgemental environment, we want to show the positive aspects of veganism and with this, challenge prejudices about it, while inspiring people to think more about it.

We believe that attraction rather than promotion works best. Show, don’t tell. As we have seen in our own lives, inspiring people to get more invested about veganism seems to go a long way by simply cooking amazing food, letting people discover vegan options without pressure, and create experiences that reduce mental barriers.

The Vegan Market in Gothenburg

First and foremost, we want to strengthen the local community. There are plenty of incredibly talented artists and chefs out here that deserve a platform. The Vegan Market aims to give these individuals such kind of a platform. But moreover, we’re building a movement that

  • Normalises plant-based living,

  • Celebrates local talent,

  • Provides a platform for experimental ideas,

  • Connects community through shared experiences.

Food is an adventure, not a lecture. Think of our markets as a big, friendly gathering where food, awesome crafts and positive vibes come together. No preaching, just a good time.

Come hungry, leave inspired!
